Each year, we have multiple opportunities available for recent school leavers, who would like to begin their career in a professional environment.

What sort of work will I be doing?

Typically, you will start working in our Administration team, assisting with tasks such as:

• Collecting, sorting, distributing, and preparing mail.

• Delivering documents to Court, financial institutions, government offices, and more.

• Arranging catering and setting up meeting rooms.

• Managing stationery and office supplies orders.

• Providing cover for our busy reception and switchboard, attending to clients' needs.

• Assisting Legal Secretaries with filing and photocopying.

• Other administrative tasks as required.

Are there any qualifications I can complete?

You will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Business if you wish, with time allocated during your week to work on your traineeship. Practical experience will be gained on-the-job, and we will provide you with coaching and supervision to make sure you reach your full potential.

This is the first step in our pathway to become a legal secretary or paralegal.

Once you have completed your initial training with us (which can last between six months and one year), you may also have the opportunity to progress into a support role in one of our legal teams. If successful, you will assist lawyers and senior support staff with their legal matters in one of our teams e.g. conveyancing, commercial law, litigation, family law or criminal law.

Tasks typically are administrative in nature in these roles, including filing, typing, collating documents and preparing invoices. In time, as your skills develop, you will have more interaction with clients and other professionals, and will even assist with drafting legal documents and running client files yourself.

Some of our senior paralegals have been with us for over 20 years and are true experts in the legal fields in which they work.
