Shaun Briffa, Senior Solicitor
Shaun practices in conveyancing, property development and commercial law; including rural, commercial and residential conveyancing, body corporate law, titling and leasing.
He also assists clients with drafting and reviewing contracts for the sale and purchase of residential, rural and commercial properties including “off the plan” sales, marina berths, as well as drafting complex leases, agreements for lease (where the leased premises are yet to be constructed) and body corporate agreements (such as caretaking and letting agreements). Shaun has also assisted clients with the successful titling and sale of various developments including commercial land and buildings, waterfront land and rural residential land. Shaun can also assist with boundary re-alignments and the sale and purchase of tradeable development rights, as well as the sale, purchase and subdivision of water allocations.
Shaun has a keen interest in ensuring developments (both vacant land and body corporate) are titled to enable the further stages to be developed further down the track and to achieve a legal structure to suit developer's needs.
Shaun attended Deakin University in Geelong and commenced work at McKays in August, 2010.
Shaun has been involved in major property development projects with complex titling structures, as well as body corporate disputes and complex family dissolutions involving complex transfers of property for rural clients.Shaun has also assisted many clients with drafting, negotiating and administering infrastructure agreements for trunk infrastructure. Shaun has successfully negotiated and documented many agreements for resumptions of land under the Acquisition of Land Act. Shaun is also highly experienced in the preparation, negotiation and review of easements, covenants and caveats.
Shaun regularly works with body corporate managers and committees to advise on complex disputes, caretaking and letting agreements and assists them with recording new community management statements for existing body corporates.
