Advice on Payment Claims
Builders and contractors not being paid what they are properly entitled to, or only being paid months after they should have been paid, are two of the major reasons for business failure in the building and construction industry.
The Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004 (BCIPA) provides a quick and inexpensive method of enforcing payment, usually without the need to go to court.
Not understanding how it works could cost your business a great deal of money which you would not otherwise have to pay, if you receive a Payment Claim which you dispute and you don’t know how to deal with it properly under the Act. For further information click here to go to our Law Talk article entitled “The BCIPA and why you need to know about it”.
Advice on Subcontractors’ Charges
A Subcontractors’ Charge is a powerful tool to help contractors recover money owed by a builder or other contractor, for work done involving a customer who has engaged a principal contractor to manage the
co-ordination of the contract work. It is particularly helpful where the builder or contractor is in financial difficulty. If you are an ECA or MPAQ member click on your association logo below to log in and download our free Subcontractors' Charges Guide.
