History of McKays Solicitors

McKays Solicitors was established on the 1st of March 1988 upon the merger of two North Queensland firms…Nissen & Coates and Seeto McKay…both of which were based in Mackay and had been established some four years earlier.

Nissen & Coates was co-founded by Andrew Coates, who is now the managing partner of our Mackay office. Seeto McKay was co-founded by our senior partner, now in Brisbane, Jeremy Seeto, with Mark McKay. Mark McKay was killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident in June, 1988. It is in honour of Mark, that the firm was named McKays Solicitors.

Our commitment to planned growth, together with strategic mergers, including with Mackay firm, Barry Beaverson & Stenson in 2002, has seen McKays Solicitors become one of the largest and strongest law firms in provincial Queensland and a growing force now and for the future, in South-East Queensland.
